How to Apply for a Liberia Visa in Philadelphia
Philadelphia is the largest city in the state of Pennsylvania and is one of the oldest cities in the United States. Founded in 1682 by Englishman William Penn, a social reformer and champion of liberty, he named the city Philadelphia using the Greek term meaning “brotherly love”. Philadelphia has the nickname “City of Brotherly Love” and is nowadays more casually known by locals and non-locals alike as “Philly”. The Philadelphia metropolitan area has over 6 million people (America’s eighth-largest metropolis) and includes cities and towns in the states of New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland, in addition to Pennsylvania. Philadelphia has a large population of West Africans immigrants, including 15,000 Liberians in the metropolitan area, and even more scattered throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Philadelphia has a neighborhood in the southwest part of the city that is nicknamed “Little Monrovia”, which refers to Liberia’s capital and most populous city. The city is home to the African Cultural Alliance of North America, an organization that provides services to African immigrants and hosts cultural events. The CEO of the organization is originally from Liberia.
Liberia is a West African country of over 5 million people that is slightly smaller than Pennsylvania by land area. Visitors to Liberia fly into Roberts International Airport (ROB), which has a modern passenger terminal and will soon have a new cargo terminal. Liberia’s economy relies on the exportation of minerals and agricultural commodities along with overseas remittances from the Liberians living abroad in places like Philadelphia. Although doing business in Liberia is not easy, there are plenty of business opportunities here! The Liberian economy is a blank slate that is ready for Philadelphia-area investors to bring their skills and know-how to help develop the country’s service and manufacturing sectors. Liberia is gaining in popularity as a tourist destination for heritage tours as more Black-Americans want to understand their ancestral culture and history in towns like Paynesville, Careysburg, and Buchanan. Liberia has wonderful beach resorts and wildlife sanctuaries around the town of Marshall.
