How to Apply for a Nigeria Visa in Houston
Greater Houston is the fifth most-populous metropolitan area in the United States with a population of over 7 million residents. This is one of America’s most ethnically diverse cities. With over 145 different languages being spoken in this global city, it is no surprise Houston has plenty of great restaurants offering delicious cuisine from all over the world, including dozens of West African restaurants and food trucks offering Nigerian, Ghanaian, Cameroonian, and Senegalese food. Known as “H-Town” or “Hustle-Town”, Houston is a fast-growing and youthful city that attracts international investors and businesspeople. Houston has over 4,600 energy-related firms operating across the metropolitan area and is considered the energy capital of the world. There are about 40,000 Nigerian citizens living in Houston, and perhaps four times as many first and second-generation Nigerian-Americans.
Nigeria is a West African country located on the Gulf of Guinea that is roughly the combined size of Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa and seventh most-populous in the world. Known as the “Giant of Africa”, Nigeria has the largest economy in Africa and is well known for its huge oil and gas sector, making this an important country for Houston businesspeople and engineers working in the energy industry. Nigeria also has a dynamic film and entertainment industry known as “Nollywood” that producers nearly 2,000 movies each year and employs over 1 million people. Houston has hosted Nollywood film festivals and its theaters often have screenings of Nigerian films. Abuja is the political capital of Nigeria and Lagos is its economic and cultural capital. English is the official language of Nigeria, but Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa are some of its most widely spoken native languages.
