How to Apply for a Ghana Visa in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is America’s second most populous city after New York.  Greater Los Angeles—which includes Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County, Riverside County, Ventura County, and Orange County—has a population of nearly 19 million people.  If Greater Los Angeles were its own country, it would be the 15th largest economy in the world (its GDP is more than twice the size of the combined economies of Nigeria and Sierra Leone).  Known for its endless sprawl, Greater Los Angeles is the largest metropolitan region in the United States by land area and includes over 200 cities such as Santa Monica, Pasadena, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Burbank, Long Beach, Carson, Irvine, Anaheim, and Inglewood.  There are a few thousand Ghanaian immigrants living throughout Southern California and Los Angeles is home to the Ghana Association of Southern California.  Los Angeles is also home to the Pan-African Film Festival, which has showcased several films from Ghana and is a great event for Americans interested in learning more about West African cultures.  Los Angeles residents can prepare for their trip to Ghana by sampling the country's cuisine at one of the West African restaurants located in Inglewood.

Ghana is a West African nation of 31 million people that has over 100 ethnic groups speaking nearly 80 languages.  The country has 335 miles of beautiful coastline along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean, and it shares a border with Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, and Togo.  Its land area is roughly the size of the combined area of Illinois and Indiana.  Ghana has a proud history and rich culture that is one of the most influential on the African continent.  Led by Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president and icon of the Pan-Africanism Movement, this was the first country in Sub-Saharan Africa to gain full economic and political independence during the era of European colonialism.  The ideals of the Pan-Africanism Movement are manifested today by the growing number of tourists traveling to Ghana from cities like Los Angeles to experience their cultural heritage and historical links to the African continent.  Visitors will enjoy visiting sites such as Cape Coast Castle, Independence Square, and the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre as part of their educational journey, but there are also plenty of ways to experience modern-day Ghana and interact with locals by visiting Labadi Beach or Makola Market in Accra.  Others may enjoy special events celebrating African music and cuisine such as Afrochella.
