How to Apply for a Ghana Visa in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is the largest city in the state of Nevada and located in the Mojave Desert, bordering California and Arizona. The Las Vegas metropolitan area, known as the Las Vegas Valley, includes Clark County and the cities of North Las Vegas, Henderson, and Boulder City, as well as several other unincorporated communities and neighborhoods. The Las Vegas Valley has a population of 2.3 million people and has been America’s fastest growing city the past decade. Although Las Vegas ranks only as the 28th-most populous city in the United States, there could be as many as 300,000 tourists visiting the city on any given day. Las Vegas is known as “America’s Playground” and is one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations, attracting over 42 million visitors a year. The city also hosts over 20,000 annual conventions, meetings, and trade shows each year. The population of Ghana immigrants in Las Vegas is small, however, there is a Ghanaian community here that is represented by the Ghana Association of Las Vegas. Las Vegas also has connections to the country through local church groups that provide health and education services in Ghana. In 2018 the Nevada governor led a trade mission to Ghana to support Las Vegas-area companies in the gaming and mining industries.
Ghana is a West African nation of 31 million people made up of 100 ethnic groups speaking nearly 80 languages. The country has a proud history and rich culture that is one of the most influential in Africa. After decades as a British colony, Ghana became the first country in Africa to gain independence in 1957, inspiring leaders not only across the African continent, but also those in the U.S. such as Martin Luther King, Jr. (King visited Ghana in 1957 and was there to witness the birth of this new nation). A half century later, Americans are still traveling to Ghana and drawing inspiration from its people and culture. Las Vegas tourists will enjoy visiting sites such as Cape Coast Castle, Independence Square, and the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre as part of their educational journey, but there are also plenty of ways to experience modern-day Ghana and interact with locals by visiting Labadi Beach or Makola Market in Accra, the nation’s capital and most-populous city. Ghana’s second-largest city, Kumasi, is also an important destination for tourists seeking knowledge about traditional Ghanaian culture as this is the home of the Ashanti King and the Kumasi Cultural Center. On the business front, there are opportunities for Las Vegas entrepreneurs to develop Ghana's entertainment and leisure sector.
