How to Apply for a Liberia Visa in Denver
Denver, known as the “Mile High City” because of its elevation of 5,280 feet, is the capital of Colorado and is one of the fastest growing cities in America. The Denver Metropolitan area is the 19th most populous metro area in the U.S. and has a population approaching 3 million people. The region’s growing and diverse economy—along with its proximity to Rocky Mountain ski resorts—make Denver an attractive destination for people seeking a more active and balanced lifestyle. The Denver Metropolitan area includes the towns of Arvada, Aurora, Castle Rock, Centennial, Lakewood, Littleton, Thornton, and Westminster. There are over 2,000 Liberian immigrants living in Denver and about 3,000 throughout the state of Colorado. Many of these immigrants came to the area as refugees, including Naquetta Ricks, who has recently become the first Liberian-American elected to a U.S. state assembly. Colorado was the home of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf—former president of Liberia (and first female head of state in Africa)—while she attended the University of Colorado Boulder and earned a degree in economics.
Liberia is a West African country of over 5 million people that borders Sierra Leone, Guinea, Ivory Coast, and the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors to Liberia will fly into Roberts International Airport, which has a newly constructed passenger terminal and will soon have a new cargo terminal. From the airport, it is about a $20 taxi ride to downtown Monrovia—Liberia’s capital and most-populous city. Liberia’s economy relies on the exportation of minerals and agricultural commodities through the seaports of Monrovia and Buchanan, along with remittances from Liberians living abroad in U.S. cities like Denver. Although doing business in Liberia is not easy, there are opportunities here across multiple sectors of the economy, particularly in tourism, construction, agriculture, and food production—all industries where Denver-area entrepreneurs excel and could make their mark on this country. Liberia is gaining in popularity as a tourist destination for heritage tours as more Americans want to understand their ancestral culture and history. It is also a country where visitors can enjoy natural beauty and beach resorts. Although no ski resorts are found in this tropical country (like in Colorado), Liberian towns like Robertsport have gained fame as destinations for surfers seeking new adventures.
