UK Tier 4 (General) Student Visa
1 - Passport Submit the actual passport and make sure it has empty visa pages and will not expire within 6 months from the date of departure. Please also provide any expired travel documents/passports that show previous travel.
2 - Two color passport size photos Must be taken within the last 6 months. See link for guidelines: https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/photos/photo-composition-template.html
3 - Evidence of funds Please provide bank statements, pay slips or other proof of earnings such as a letter from employer confirming employment details (start date of employment, salary, role, company contact details).
One of the following:
An ORIGINAL letter from your employer on company headed paper, detailing your role, salary and length of employment, OR
An ORIGINAL letter from your education provider, on headed paper, confirming your enrolment and leave of absence, OR
If self-employed, business registration documents confirming the business owner’s name and the date the business started trading (please provide originals).
4 - Details of where you intend to stay and your travel plans (You shouldn’t pay for accommodation or travel until you get your visa.)
5 - A formal invitation from the organization or authority you’ll be paid by
6 - Proof that the paid engagement relates to your expertise, qualifications and main job in your home country (e.g. a letter from your employer)
You must provide extra documents if you’re an established art, entertainment or sporting professional. You can provide any of the following: publications, publicity material, media coverage and reviews, proof of recent performances. You will need to provide a certified translation of any documents that are not in English.
UK Visa Application To apply for a UK visa in the USA you need to:
Apply online ➤ Start filling out the application and make sure to choose the correct category.
The Visa Category must be for a 1-month visa. Pay your fee for the visa➤ Make the payment by using a credit card.
Make an appointment ➤You must book your biometric appointment at a U.S. Department of Homeland Security application support center (ASC) when you apply online. This is to have your photo and fingerprints taken (known as ‘biometric information’).
NOTE: When you visit the ASC for your biometrics appointment, please take your current passport, a printout of your application form and a copy of your biometric confirmation receipt. You can print your receipt when you apply online. Mobile phones, cameras and other recording devices are not permitted inside the ASC. The result of the biometric is valid for 10 days only, so please make sure to send us all the necessary documents as soon as possible.
Applicant must fill out the visa application online and have your fingerprints and photograph (known as ‘biometric information’) taken at a as part of your application.

- The dates you’re planning to travel to the UK
- Details of where you’ll be staying during your visit
- How much you think your trip will cost
- Your current home address and how long you have lived there
- Your parents’ names and dates of birth
- How much you earn in a year
You might also need:
- Details of your travel history for the past 10 years (as shown in your passport)
- Your employer’s address and telephone number
- Your partner’s name, date of birth, and passport number
- The name and address of anyone paying for your trip
- The name, address, and passport number of any family members you have in the UK
- Details of any criminal, civil or immigration offences you have committed
