Ecuador Retirement Visa
1 - Passport Submit the actual passport and make sure It has empty visa pages and will not expire within 6 months from the date of visa submission
2 - Passport-style photos 5 cm x 5 cm photo against a plain white background (can be taken in Ecuador)
3 - Evidence of Retirement Pension Granted by a public US authority (such as the Social Security Administration) showing a minimum of $1,300 income per month and an extra $250 for each dependent (if applicable).
4 - Criminal Background Report Must be issued by both the local police office and federal government (by the Federal Bureau of Investigation) and show no criminal record.
*You must also provide a criminal background report from Ecuador in case you have traveled there before (this document will be obtained in Ecuador)
5 - Migratory Certification (this document is obtained in Ecuador)
6 - National or International Health Insurance Should be valid for the same period of the visa (2 years)
Please note: The Criminal Background Report and Evidence of Retirement Pension must be apostilled by the US Department of State.
IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Ecuadorian migratory authorities and legislation have established that RETIREMENT VISA is a TEMPORARY RESIDENCY VISA initially valid for 2 years. After 2 years, you can either apply for a 2-year renewal or a PERMANENT RESIDENCY VISA.
- This VISA allows you to live anywhere within Ecuadorian Territory (excluding the Galapagos Islands).
